Together with traditional owners, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has been helping unlock the secrets of the ancient Aboriginal aquacultural site, Budj Bim. To ensure the site is well understood and appreciated, DELWP has been procuring high-resolution and 3D LiDAR imagery. To share their discoveries and mark NAIDOC week, they reached out to Creativa for a video.

We approached the project as if it were a documentary. As everyone had an integral role to play and story to share we conducted a series of interviews both with the traditional owners and the DELWP. With a lot of ground to cover, given the size and scale of the site, we combined drone footage with the impressive LiDAR vision the teams had captured.

Despite a tight timeline and production schedule, the final result did not compromise on our vision. We always collaborate closely with our clients, and on this project particularly so. With a fascinating story to tell, the film — itself capturing an incredible cooperative partnership between government and traditional owners — amounts to a beautiful collaborative effort.

"Thank you for your brilliant work on the Budj Bim film — it was masterfully shot and produced, telling this incredible story so very beautifully."

Terry Garwood — Deputy Secretary, DELWP
