Challenge
Anticipating an upcoming flood season, the Victorian State Emergency Service, (VICSES), needed to remind people in rural Victoria what to do in a flood. Their campaign – “Bag it, block it, lift it and leave” – needed to reach a general audience and make a lasting impression – easy to remember in the event of an emergency.
Response
We spread our approach across media. We engaged a composer to create an original song around the ‘bag it, block it’ instructions and created an animation to match. It’s so catchy – and that’s by design. To expand on this resource, we created some live action videos demonstrating exactly how to apply your ‘bag it, block it’ mantra.

Outcome
The mixed media approach helped us target different audiences and explain the information at varying resolutions. From the client’s perspective, the resources are flexible – more so in that the resulting videos can be cut down so they can be delivered on a variety of platforms. We even created variants of the animation, subbing out urban and regional backgrounds. If there’s a flood on the way, you’ll know what to do.
