Over the past year, Yarra City Council has passionately contributed over $171,000 in funding towards various community-led projects, including the remarkable ‘Beyond the Bars’ program by 3CR Community Radio. The council wanted to show the support the council has given in the form of grants funding to 3CR and the ‘Beyond the Bars’
Response
As part of our partnership, Creativa had the incredible opportunity to produce a short video showcasing 3CR and the impactful ‘Beyond the Bars’ program. We filmed an inspiring interview with 3CR presenter Robbie Thorpe at their studio on Smith Street in Fitzroy, capturing the essence of this empowering initiative.
Outcome
This initiative provides a platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inmates in Victorian prisons to share their stories, songs, and poems during NAIDOC Week and shows how Yarra City Council deeply value the contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made, and continue to make, to the area.
